I stopped buying DVD's about 18 months ago, when I made the switch to blu-ray. And between Youtube, Veehd, Stagevu and a few other 'under the counter' torrent sharing sites I'm more than satisfied. In the case of this film I do think the blu-ray is Shaun Anderson [The Celluloid Highway]https://www.blogger.com/profile/18066744649878418309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5751360814489146754.post-14129539812152726282012-07-15T00:14:40.858+01:002012-07-15T00:14:40.858+01:00Shaun, why do you think people still buy DVD's...Shaun, why do you think people still buy DVD's at all any more now that literally EVERYTHING is freely available on YouTube ?.teddy crescendonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5751360814489146754.post-25735776257604936342011-11-20T23:07:30.125+00:002011-11-20T23:07:30.125+00:00Apologies for the delay in responding to your comm...Apologies for the delay in responding to your comment Greg - I'm glad you took the plunge and purchased a copy of DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW, I'm very confident you'll enjoy it. I have heard of THE SQUEEZE, and it's available for me to watch as part of my subscription to Lovefilm, so I might give it a look. But I have a huge backlog of films that I've been creating playlists Shaun Anderson [The Celluloid Highway]https://www.blogger.com/profile/18066744649878418309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5751360814489146754.post-8183458498702659282011-11-16T10:49:24.648+00:002011-11-16T10:49:24.648+00:00My copy of this film arrived in the mail today! Watched an interesting Lee Van Cleef number a night ago called THE SQUEEZE ('78) - in English. It's very available on DVD (being sold for $0.01 by some vendors on Amazon), and is more than worth the watch,Greg Stuart Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11939384500810162186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5751360814489146754.post-51037893050817660982011-11-05T17:13:25.403+00:002011-11-05T17:13:25.403+00:00Cheers Greg! It's been broken down into 6 parts, but if you make a playlist of those parts in sequence, you can play them all in sequence, with only the slightest of pauses - if you're interested in giving it a view here is the link to Part 1 to get you Shaun Anderson [The Celluloid Highway]https://www.blogger.com/profile/18066744649878418309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5751360814489146754.post-91089578159245549902011-11-04T01:50:15.721+00:002011-11-04T01:50:15.721+00:00Great write up! I love the look of the Kodachrome film stock they were using back then; warmth to me is a lost art in horror - in most other genres, too. Use production design and wardrobe to achieve a desired effect, not the look of the stock itself. Everything is way too desaturated now. I had planned on posting one for this movie, too, but these damnable computer problems the last few days have hindered my intended Halloween specific posts. I saw this on its premiere and the following year, too, when it aired on Halloween night. I remember coming in from trick r treating and plopping down with my bag of candy 15 minutes into the feature.
