If you explore the landscape of 1970's American TV horror movies you'll find that nostalgia is the key ingredient that seems to bind most writing on the subject. Nostalgia is fine up to a point, but it can blind people to weaknesses that seem obvious to others. In many ways the nostalgic approach is almost the total opposite to a critical approach; so I guess it's Shaun Anderson [The Celluloid Highway]https://www.blogger.com/profile/18066744649878418309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5751360814489146754.post-82537642197455959292012-03-17T14:49:58.731+00:002012-03-17T14:49:58.731+00:00Nice review, Shaun. Having never seen this, I'm very curious to check it out. That it remains quite chilling to this day is no mean feat for a low budget TV movie and all the restrictions that come with that territory. I remember reading your enthusiastic review of TRILOGY OF TERROR, so we clearly share a love of 1970's TV horror movies. One has to bear in mind with the original that it only runs for 74 minutes, so the creatures do seem to appear relatively quickly. But the filmmakers didn't have a lot of leeway, a lot of these TV horrors areShaun Anderson [The Celluloid Highway]https://www.blogger.com/profile/18066744649878418309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5751360814489146754.post-18556915139901944912012-03-08T20:43:17.239+00:002012-03-08T20:43:17.239+00:00Cool that you reviewed this one, I was so curious ...Cool that you reviewed this one, I was so curious for it. It seems that it suffers from the same ailments the remake suffers from: we know too much, too soon. It seems the remake went even further down this path, we see the creatures in the first five minute of film! The remake left me so uninspired...I didnt even muster the strengths to write anything about it. I was so "meh"<br /><br Franco Macabrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10994905312221715861noreply@blogger.com
