Yes this is clearly an attempt to do something slightly different within Vampire lore - especially I think with the vampire hunter, who is aggressive, rude, an alcholic and perhaps most radical of all uses Shaun Anderson [The Celluloid Highway]https://www.blogger.com/profile/18066744649878418309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5751360814489146754.post-45471044085564457472010-02-26T20:00:48.381+00:002010-02-26T20:00:48.381+00:00This is one of my favorite Hammer films, I reviewe...This is one of my favorite Hammer films, I reviewed this one a while back. I believe the ending on this one was the ending they were going to use in one of the Dracula films, I think it was Scars of Dracula, but they decided to go with something else. But they ended up using it on this one.

I like it because on this one vampires are like some dangerous religious sect, turning everyoneFranco Macabrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10994905312221715861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5751360814489146754.post-71972346923603161922010-02-24T14:32:10.311+00:002010-02-24T14:32:10.311+00:00James - This one is well worth a view. A decent release (apart from the fact that 8 films are on two discs - 2 per side) which also includes other rare films like Nightmare, Paranoiac and Night Creatures.

dfordoom - I couldnt agree more. I agree it's uneven, but to me it's a lot more interesting than some of the later entries in their Dracula cycle.dfordoomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02306293859869179118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5751360814489146754.post-3226135637221147782010-02-23T20:24:34.695+00:002010-02-23T20:24:34.695+00:00Not seen this one yet, Shaun. And I completely agree with you - even some of the more derivative and poorly written Hammer films still manage to exhibit a memorable atmosphere and weird gravitas.James Graceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08968719719213071671noreply@blogger.com
