  1. Just got through reviewing Invasion USA! I'm looking forward to seeing and reviewing the Missing in Action movies as well as Code of Silence. I've always been curious for Hellbound because I'd like to see Norris deal with the supernatural...Firewalker kind of sucked, it felt like a lame attempt at an Indiana Jones film.

  2. Killer poster gallery! Always wanted to see Eye For An Eye! Is it worth watching?

  3. @ Franco - thanks for the comment, CODE OF SILENCE is one of Norris' better films in my opinion. Whereas INVASION USA is surely his most absurd. I haven't seen FIREWALKER and nor do I intend too!

@ Ty - EYE FOR AN EYE is well worth a watch. Norris is supported by Richard Roundtree and Christopher Lee, some great photography of San Francisco, and an exciting climax. Plus the poster of it above, the first one, is surely the finest in this gallery.

  4. Great gallery, Shaun! I'm going to have to check out CODE OF SILENCE now. And yeah, INVASION U.S.A. is the peak of 80's action absurdity. I mean, anytime someone gets a coke flute jammed up their nose as a form of murder, it certainly is absurd! Again, these posters are great.

Will have to see an EYE FOR AN EYE, too, since you say it has great location shots of San Francisco - probably the most photogenic of all U.S. Cities. Like you (or at least I remember you suggesting as much on a review I didn't comment on -- some low budget rape-revenge number in rural PA, I think), like you: one of the things that attracts me to older projects, is that (as long as there is a lot of location work) they serve as windows into the past: old buildings, billboards, cars, even music and commercials. Sometimes those things alone, can make a not so good movie worth watching.

Going to have to check out Franco's INVASION U.S.A. review now. Cheers, mate.

  5. Many thanks Greg! Yes CODE OF SILENCE seems a cut above the usual Norris action flick to me. Mostly because of the solid support from interesting character actors. Yes many of these films serve as fascinating time capsules. EYE FOR AN EYE doesn't foreground its setting to the extent of say the DIRTY HARRY pictures, but it is such a distinctive locale that its impossible not to view at as an extra character in itself.

  6. Yeah, that opening credit sequence in the original DIRTY HARRY alone is so unforgettable, it boggles the mind. Inspector Callahan looks so damn cool in those shades of his, that tweed sports coat and red sweater vest -- up there on that high rise, the bay folding out beneath him, as he bends and finds Scorpio's spent shell casing, using his pen to do it no less! All the while, Lalo Schifrin's iconic score is playing away! Oh, how I do love it so!!!

  7. Just one brilliant moment, in a film that has a multitude of them; the scene in which Scorpio pays a guy to beat the shit out him, all the moments on the school bus (especially when he slaps a snot nosed kid for not singing in the correct spirit), the whole bouncing Callaghan around town episode, and of course the two keynote sequences - the finale and the bank job.

  8. wow, Top Dog really missed the boat didn't it? Chuck's Ape Drape in The Hitman is simply something else... It's approximately the same size as his shotgun!

  9. I presume TOP DOG was the Norris equivalent of K9, believe it or not Mike, I haven't seen it!
