Many thanks to Brian Bankston of the excellent Cool Ass Cinemafor kindly donating the title screen for Rob Zombies abominated abortion of a film Halloween II.
I agree that the title screen for 'Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers' is rather dull, but the title sequence itself is rather well done - a moody autumnal introduction accompanied by Alan Howarth's score.
I think I'd have to nominate HALLOWEEN III as my personal favourite. The entire title sequence is impressive, once again mostly due to Howarth & Carpenter's creepy music.
I pretty much covered my thoughts on this whole series over the last several days. Part 4 I thought was decent enough and made passable by some obvious nods to the original, but the attempts at turning Myers into Jason Voorhees put me off to it. H20 I think is the best of the sequels next to part 2. RESURRECTION is hopelessly stupid, but does have some interesting ideas and Curtis's involvement was possibly the high point of that one. I could go on all day about the suckage of the Z man's two outhouse stinkers. I sent you the title credit for his HALLOWEEN 2 (2009), Shaun.
Many thanks Brian, and it was very much appreciated. I generally concur with your views on the franchise in general, but would also single out HALLOWEEN III for special attention. I wasn't overly impressed with Part 4, but I did think H20 was a decent effort. Probably the second best of the Myers related films.
Wow, Halloween 4 just doesn't seem as intimidating.
ReplyDeleteYes, distinctly underwhelming! Rather like the film itself.

ReplyDeleteWoah! Can't believe I missed this one. My favourite is also Part III - though I also love the simplicity of the first one.
