  1. Not a comment on the scores as such, but I've always felt that the image of the bound child from 'Cat 'O Nine Tails' was exceptionally provocative. It encapsulates the themes of the film very well, but there's no way it would be permitted broad distribution in today's film advertising.

    Have to say, though: the Cinevox CD releases of the Goblin/Argento titles are certainly fantastic. Big, detailed and punchy - but not brickwalled (as they would be today).

    On a related note, as much as Goblin/Simonetti came to define the Argento score, I still think "Valley" (performed by Bill Wyman and Terry Taylor for 'Phenomena') remains the most brilliantly evocative piece of Argento film music. The Wyman music video for the track is equally disturbing, too!
